Artist's Description

This plant is often mistaken for a giant dandelion, but is actually wild salsify, a species of Tragopogon. I photographed it in an Upstate New York field in early August. Rather than pure black and white, this image has more of a warm, sepia - like quality with tones ranging from pale, soft taupe to rich, deep brown and black. Photography by Brooke T Ryan.
